State police said the man walked from the right shoulder into the left westbound lane near Exit 1.5 around 4:15 a.m.
He was struck and thrown back into the right shoulder where first responders found him fatally injured, troopers said. He was pronounced dead his body was turned over to the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and identification, they added.
The striking driver remained on the scene and provided a statement, investigators said.
